Expedition Grant Conditions

RSGS logo

In making a Grant or approving an Expedition, the Society accepts no legal liability towards any expedition.   In accepting a Grant, the organisers and members of an Expedition are deemed to agree to the following specified conditions: -

  1. The Grant will be used only for those purposes specified in the Grant Application.   Any changes made prior to the departure of the Expedition will be notified immediately to the Society, as will any decision to delay or cancel the Expedition.

  2. Appropriate insurance will be in place before the Expedition departs.

  3. Expeditions will not be described as "sponsored by" the Society, but may be termed "Grant aided by" or "Approved by" the Society, as appropriate.

  4. The Expedition will supply the Society with at least one suitable photograph taken in the field.   For this purpose, it may, if it so wishes, take with it a flag provided by the Society, that flag to be returned at the end of the expedition.

  5. A brief interim report on at least one side of A4 will be submitted to the Society within a month of the expedition returning to the UK, and a full report and statement of accounts submitted within a year of the expedition returning from the field.   Failure to do so will prejudice the consideration of future applications from the same group or institution.

These pages are hosted on behalf of the Society by Bruce Gittings at the Department of Geography at the University of Edinburgh.
