RSGS is an educational charity which operates under an established constitution, approved by the Office of the Scottish Charities Regulator (OSCR). The Society is governed by a Board which is overseen by a Council. The Board comprises the Chair, Vice Chair and Treasurer, the Education, Centres and Library & Information Convenors and three members elected from Council. Council comprises the Officers and Office-bearers, together with the Convenors of Committees, the Chairs of the Centres and individuals elected by the membership. Day-to-day operations are the responsibility of our staff, directed by a management team, including our Chief Executive and the Principal Officers of the Society. Much of the work of the Society is undertaken by its committees and enthusiastic volunteers.
