Royal Scottish Geographical Society: Publications
The RSGS publishes a newsletter entitled The Geographer and a research periodical the
Scottish Geographical Journal. In addition, the Society is regularly involved in
the production of books, pamphlets and teaching packs on geographical and environmental issues.
The Geographer (ISSN 0951-2136) is the newsletter of the Society, issued four times per year. Subscription is
free of charge to
members. The Geographer was introduced in 2009 extending and modernising our former
newsletter GeogScot, first introduced in the early 1980s. The Geographer contains national and international news
on issues of particular interest to Society
members and the broader public: opinion, focus on particular projects and regions of the world,
Off the Beaten Track - comprising members' travel tales, excursion and expedition reports - awards, competitions,
book reviews, offers,
news from the universities and the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers, together with excerpts from the Society's collections and
archives, and updates from the RSGS Regional Centres and other bodies.
