Climate Emergency Summit IV

We hosted another successful Climate Emergency Summit in late May, focused on construction and bringing together some of the sharpest minds in this industry and in sustainability. The associated report from this event will be published in the coming weeks, and submitted to Government thereafter.

To support Scottish geography teachers during lockdown, the RSGS Education Committee hosted the first of a series of virtual TeachMeets in May using Zoom. The TeachMeet explored ‘remote teaching’, and 78 teachers from Scotland and beyond signed in to see ten presentations on the approaches being taken, and to share their common difficulties.
This event was very well received, not just for its range of ideas, but also for teachers to express their concerns, bringing a sense of commonality for the participants. To access a recording of this TeachMeet, please contact james.cave@rsgs.org

In partnership with Outward Bound Oman, we're delighted to present 'Lessons in Resilience', a series of interactive resources for school and university students, complete with videos, lesson plans and student workbooks.
The plans are very flexible age-wise and can be used in a variety of ways – from stimulating discussion amongst outdoor education students at university, to inspiring young people in junior and secondary schools (or at home!) about the value of learning outdoors.
