Christmas GeoQuizzical
We will be hosting a special Christmas GeoQuizzical event on Monday 19th of December at 7:30pm over Zoom!

We are excited to announce the release of the newest edition of The Geographer! The theme of this edition is Colombia, to shine a spotlight on this amazing land of rhythm, rivers and rich diversity- exploring topics such as biodiversity, inequality, communities and Indigenous peoples, as well as landscapes and landforms of the region. And of course, we also share some stunning images of this vibrant and diverse country.
The magazine is a result of a collaboration between RSGS and Colombian geographers at the University of the Andes, in response to their engagement at the International Geographical Gathering we hosted in March. With their help, the magazine brilliantly showcases an incredible country which is deserving of our attention and help.
RSGS Members can look forward to receiving the new magazine this week! In anticipation of this edition, our latest blog investigates the Nukak, the last Indigenous people to be contacted by mainstream Colombian society, and one of the last nomadic tribes in the country.
The countdown is on until our talk with Mungo Park Medallist Doug Allan FRSGS at Perth Concert Hall on Wednesday 21st December 2022! The Scottish wildlife cameraman and photographer, best known for his work in polar regions, will share some of his amazing experiences and spectacular images from his life and career. As Sir David Attenborough once said, “wildlife cameramen don’t come much more special than Doug.”

In November, we were delighted to present RSGS Honorary Fellowship to Alan Kinder. Alan has been Chief Executive of the Geographical Association for the last 8 years and has been instrumental in the development of numerous geographical resources which are highly valued by teachers. During his time at the GA, Alan has worked tirelessly and with great success to keep the subject of Geography alive and relevant.
Join us on Tuesday 13th December at 2pm for our latest Meet the Experts Q&A session . This month's theme is 'The Sustainability Mindset'. For this session, we'll be joined by Professor Iain Black from Strathclyde University and Dr Anna Wilson from The University of Glasgow.
