Over the last four years of Russia's war against Ukraine, Jen Stout brought the war home to readers in Scotland with her evocative first-hand reporting. Originally from Shetland, Jen was living in Moscow on a fellowship when the full-scale Russian invasion took place. Stories from the trains and birthday parties, from military hospitals and underground bunkers: stories from the ground, from a writer with a deep sense of empathy, always seeking to understand the bigger picture, the big questions of identity, history, hopes and fears in this war in Europe. Her talks are illustrated with her own striking images of wartime Ukraine.
