Miriam is an ocean rower who has crossed the Atlantic solo and most recently was part of the first women’s team (Seas the Day) to row the Pacific non-stop and unsupported. Miriam, alongside teammate Jess spent five and a half months at sea on a 10-metre boat, rowing 8,000 miles across the Pacific Ocean from Peru to Australia. Miriam will share her story of becoming part of the first female team to complete the journey non-stop and unsupported. Her talk explores the realities of life on the ocean - from dealing with cramped living conditions, equipment failures and long stretches of isolation, balanced by moments that make it worthwhile - close encounters with wildlife, vast night skies and sunrises in the middle of nowhere.
